چکیده

An array of oscillators coupled through mutual injection locking on a nearest neighbor basis has the property of automatically adjusting itself to linear phase progression across the array in response to appropriate adjustment of the elements at the edge of the array. This mechanism is well-suited to phase generation for phased array antennas at millimeter wavelengths because it obviates the topological complexity associated with feed and control manifolds found in conventional phased arrays. This paper discusses recent understanding gained in the operation of coupled-oscillator arrays and their exploitation for phased array antennas. COUPLED OSCILLATOR PRINCIPLES The use of phase-locked oscillators for beamsteering was proposed in 1974 by Al-Ani, et. al. [1]. The exploitation of the phase dynamics of coupled-oscillator systems to generate phase gradation across an array was first proposed by Stephan [2] and have been substantially elaborated upon by York and his colleagues [3]. A key result of [3] is a set of coupled non-linear differential equations that describe the phase dynamics of a coupled oscillator array:

Phased array antenna using MEMS phase shifter

This article presents a phased array antenna employing MEMS phase shifter. The proposed phased array antenna consists of eight square patch antennas operating at 10.4 GHz with a bandwidth of 400 MHz. Feed line for each patch passes through a MEMS phase shifter realized by a series of bridges above the transmission line. The distance between the bridge and the transmission line underneath it is ...

تحلیل و طراحی تغییر دهنده فاز N - بیتی MEMS توزیع شده در باند Ka

Modern microwave and millimeter wave phased array antennas are attractive because of their ability to steer wave beams in space without physically moving the antenna element. A typical phased array antenna may have several thousand elements fed by a phase shifter for every antenna, which can steer the resulting array beam to different directions. Their low loss, low cost and lightweight phase s...

Design of Millimeter-wave Slotted-Waveguide Planar Antenna for Sub-array of Beam-scanning Antenna

Beam-scanning antennas are attractive for high-bit-rate data communication systems and high resolution sensing systems in millimeter-wave band. Waveguide antenna is one of the most attractive antennas for such millimeter-wave systems because of its low loss and high efficiency characteristics in high frequency band. Horizontally-beam-scanning antennas such as phased arrays and DBF (Digital Beam...
